Privacy Policy — AI Speaking Partner
How the app and the website handle your practice data. Last updated 6 September 2026.
The short version. You can use this tool with no account. We store the text of your practice conversations so the tutor can reply and so you can read your session report. We never receive an audio recording of your voice. Guest conversations are deleted automatically after 30 days, and you can delete yours at any moment, without an account, on our data deletion page.
This policy covers the AI Speaking Partner Android app and the same tool on arbsbuy.com. Our general site policy is at arbsbuy.com/privacy-policy; where the two differ, this page governs the speaking tool.
Who we are
Arb Digital (arbsbuy.com) publishes this tool. For any privacy question or request, write to support@arbsbuy.com.
What we collect
1. What you type or say, as text
Your side of the conversation reaches our server as text, and we store it along with the tutor's replies, the corrections it produced and any vocabulary it flagged. This is the only way a conversational tutor can work: the next reply is written from the conversation so far, and your end-of-session report is built from it.
Do not type or say anything you would not want stored. This is practice software, not a private diary. Real names, addresses, passwords, card numbers and medical details have no place in a practice conversation.
2. Your voice — and what actually happens to it
We want to be precise here, because this is the claim most easily overstated.
- No audio ever reaches our servers. There is no audio upload in this product. We receive text and nothing else.
- Speech-to-text is done by your own device's software, not by
us. On the web that is your browser's Web Speech API; in the
Android app it is Android's own
SpeechRecognizer. - That software may send your audio to its own provider. On most Android phones and in Chrome, speech recognition is a Google service, and your audio may be transmitted to Google to be transcribed, under Google's privacy policy and your device's own speech settings. We do not control that, we are not told when it happens, and we receive nothing from it except the finished text your device hands us.
- If you would rather no audio left your device at all, use the tool in text mode and type instead. Everything works the same way, including corrections and the session report.
3. Technical data
- IP address. Recorded with a practice session and with your device registration, used only to enforce the free daily limits and to stop abuse. Deleted after 7 days — much sooner than anything else here.
- A device identifier. The app registers once and holds an opaque random token. It is not your phone's advertising ID, IMEI or hardware serial, we cannot reverse it into anything about you or your device, and it exists so your practice carries on between launches. It is also what lets you delete your data without an account.
- Platform and app version (for example
androidand1.0.3), so we can support the versions people are actually running. - Ordinary server logs from our host and from Cloudflare, which fronts the site.
4. Advertising
The app shows ads through Google AdMob, and the website through Google AdSense. Google may use your device's advertising ID and similar identifiers to select and measure ads. That processing is Google's, under Google's advertising policies; you can reset or delete the advertising ID in your Android settings. We never send your practice conversations, your transcripts or your scores to any advertising system.
If you choose to watch a rewarded ad for extra practice turns, Google tells our server only that a valid reward was earned. No conversation data is involved.
5. An account, only if you want one
Signing in is optional and unlocks nothing. It only saves your history: your session scores, your practice streak and your vocabulary bank. If you sign in, we hold the email address and password you already registered on arbsbuy.com.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share your conversations with data brokers.
- We do not assess your pronunciation or your accent, and we do not store anything that could. Honest pronunciation scoring needs phoneme-level acoustic analysis; the feedback here is on fluency, grammar and word choice only, based on the text of what you said. Be wary of free tools that claim otherwise.
- We do not build an advertising profile from your conversations.
- We do not require an email address, a phone number or a card to use the tool.
Who else sees your text
To write a reply, your conversation text is sent to the AI provider serving that turn. Depending on availability that is one of:
- Groq — privacy policy
- Google (Gemini API) — API terms
- OpenAI — privacy policy, used only as a last-resort fallback
They receive the conversation text needed to produce the next reply. They do not receive your email address, your account, your IP address or your device token. We use their standard API endpoints and do not opt in to training on your content.
Our hosting is a dedicated server in Boston, USA; Cloudflare provides the CDN and security layer. If you are in the UK, the EU or another region with data-transfer rules, using this tool means your practice text is processed in the United States.
How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Guest practice conversations (no account) | Deleted in full after 30 days — the session and every line of it |
| Signed-in practice conversations | The transcript and the written report are deleted after 30 days. A dated numeric record is kept — the date, length, turn count, score and word count — so your streak and progress do not reset. Delete it whenever you like on the deletion page. |
| IP addresses | 7 days |
| Your saved vocabulary bank (signed in only) | Kept until you delete it, because it is the thing you signed in to keep |
| Device registration | Removed when you delete your data, when you sign out of the device from the app, or after long disuse |
| Reports you send us about a bad tutor reply | Up to 180 days, so we can fix the problem |
This is enforced by a job that runs every night. It is not a policy we intend to apply on request — it deletes the rows on a schedule, whether anyone asks or not.
Deleting your data
Go to arbsbuy.com/english-speaking-partner/delete-account/. You do not need an account and you do not need to email anyone. You can delete:
- the conversations started in the browser you are using, with nothing to type in;
- everything stored for a phone, by pasting the deletion code the app shows you;
- all of your practice data, if you are signed in.
Deletion is immediate and the page tells you how many records were removed. It cannot be undone. If you would rather ask us to do it, write to support@arbsbuy.com from the address on your account, or with your deletion code, and we will act within 30 days.
Children
This tool is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used it, write to support@arbsbuy.com and we will delete the records.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your data, and to object to processing. The deletion page above exercises erasure directly. For anything else, write to support@arbsbuy.com. Because guest practice is not tied to an identity, we may need your device deletion code to find the records you mean — without it, there is nothing linking those rows to you, which is itself the privacy design.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Device tokens are stored only as a one-way hash, so the value in our database cannot be used to authenticate. Practice transcripts are readable by our administrators for support and abuse handling and by nobody else. No system is perfectly secure, which is the other reason not to type anything sensitive into a practice conversation.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app. Continuing to use the tool after a change means you accept the updated policy.
