Why a daily, and why only one attempt
A quiz you can replay endlessly measures persistence. A quiz everybody plays once, on the same questions, on the same day, measures something closer to what it claims to. That single restriction is what makes a daily board worth looking at, and it is why refreshing the page will not hand you a second run.
The set is computed, not stored
Today's ten questions are derived from today's date. There is no scheduled job that picks them the night before, no table of upcoming sets, and therefore nothing to leak. It also means the daily cannot silently break because a cron job did not run at three in the morning — the questions are worked out the moment the first person asks for them.
Ten mixed questions is a deliberate size
Long enough that one lucky guess does not decide it, short enough that it fits into the gap where you would otherwise be scrolling something worse. Because the questions are mixed across every topic, nobody's specialism carries them — a good daily score is a genuinely broad one.
Streaks count days, not points
The streak is simply the run of consecutive days you have a result for, counted backwards from today until it hits a gap. Score does not affect it. Turning up and getting three out of ten keeps a streak alive exactly as well as getting ten, which is the right incentive: the habit is the thing that makes you better, not any individual round.
Daily Challenge questions
Does everyone get the same ten questions?
Yes. The set is worked out from the date itself, so every player anywhere in the world gets the identical ten questions in the identical order on a given day. Nothing is pre-generated and stored, which also means nobody can see tomorrow's set early — it does not exist until tomorrow.
When does the day change?
At midnight UTC. If you are in the Americas the new set arrives during your evening, and in Asia and Australia it arrives during your morning. The date shown at the top of this page is the UTC date the current set belongs to.
How many attempts do I get?
One. That is the whole point of a daily — everybody plays the same questions once, so the board is a fair comparison rather than a test of who was willing to retry the most times. Refreshing, reopening or switching browsers will not give you a second run.
How is my streak worked out?
It counts back from today over the days you actually have a daily result for, and stops at the first gap. It is calculated fresh from your results every time it is shown rather than kept in a counter, because a stored number drifts and then argues with the truth.
Can I play as a guest?
You can play the whole thing as a guest and see your score straight away. The daily leaderboard and the streak do need an account, though, for the boring reason that there is no honest way to stop one person filling a public daily board with a hundred guest sessions.
Is the daily harder than a normal round?
It is a different shape rather than harder. There is no ladder, no safe levels and no walking away — you simply answer all ten, mixed across every topic, and your score is what you got right. You have fifty-fifty available once, and that is the only lifeline.
