Deductible against premium

A higher deductible lowers the premium, and whether that is a good trade depends entirely on how often you claim and whether you could absorb the deductible if you had to. The comparison tools calculate the crossover point — the annual claim level at which the cheaper premium stops being cheaper overall.

How much cover is actually needed

Life cover needs are usually estimated from income replacement, outstanding debt, and future obligations such as education, rather than from a round multiple of salary. The human-life-value and needs calculators make each of those components a visible input so you can see which one is driving the total.

Estimates, not quotes

Real premiums depend on underwriting: health, age, location, claims history and factors no calculator can see. These tools show how the pricing structure behaves and what the trade-offs cost, which is useful preparation for a conversation with an insurer — but they are not quotes and every page says so.
