Licensure and certification requirements
Certification through the NBSTSA as a Certified Surgical Technologist following an accredited surgical technology programme is the common requirement, and a growing number of states regulate the title or require certification, so this varies. BLS is required. Cardiovascular competency is generally assessed by the facility against its own case list rather than by a separate national credential, and specific device and endoscopic vein harvesting training is employer or manufacturer provided.
What a nurse manager checks first
The first pass is a gate, not a judgement. A clinical reviewer is establishing that you are licensed, current and used to the kind of unit they are staffing, and only then reads for how strong a candidate you are. Anything that answers those three questions belongs above the fold; anything that does not can wait.

They ask for pump case volume by week or month because a vague claim of cardiac experience is easy to make. Familiarity with cannulation setup and the transition on and off bypass is probed since it is the cardiac-specific part of the case. Count accuracy over long procedures is discussed, and call willingness is close to non-negotiable.
The summary, and where your credentials go
Put your licence and certifications in the header line beside your name, not at the foot of the page. In clinical hiring the credential is a threshold, and a reviewer who has to hunt for it may not. The summary itself should name your setting, your patient population and your acuity, because those tell a manager how much orientation you will need.
Quantifying clinical work honestly
Clinical achievements are measurable more often than candidates assume: patient loads, ratios, turnaround times, readmission or infection rates, documentation compliance, satisfaction scores. Use the numbers you can stand behind and never estimate a clinical outcome. Where a result belonged to a team, say so β clinical managers know how care works and an overstated claim damages your credibility more than a modest one costs you.
