No licence is required. A bachelors degree is standard and institutions often favour their own graduates for the territory work. Customer relationship system experience, particularly with the platforms dominant in admissions, is screened by name and matters more than any certificate.

Interviews include a presentation task, because most of the job is speaking to rooms of prospective students and families. The first pass is a systems and caseload check. Campus offices run on a student information system and a compliance calendar, so a reviewer reads for which system you have used, the size of the student population you supported, and whether you have worked to federal or state reporting deadlines. Those transfer between institutions; most of the rest is learned locally.
Name the institution type and size, the student population you supported, and the system of record you worked in, because those three place you immediately. Certification is rarely the gate in these roles, so do not lead with it β lead with scale and the part of the student lifecycle you own.
Use the numbers the office runs on: students advised, applications processed, files verified, retention or yield movement, wait times cut. Attach the cycle β a term, an award year, an admissions season β so a reader can judge the volume. Compliance work counts as achievement here even when nothing grew, because an error-free audit is what the office is measured on.

Campus offices hire between terms and usually to a panel drawn from the department and one or two neighbouring ones. Expect a scenario question about a student situation and a question about how you handle a compliance deadline, because those are the two things the job actually turns on.

Progression runs from a caseload role to coordinating a function, then to assistant or associate director of an office, and often sideways between offices to broaden before moving up. Owning a compliance cycle or a system implementation is what makes the case.
One page under roughly ten years of experience, two pages beyond that. A two-page resume where every line earns its place beats a padded one-page resume, so cut duties before you cut measurable achievements.
Use the structure and the way each achievement is phrased, but write your own content. The names and employers here are fictional, and a resume describing work you did not do will not survive an interview.
